The New Royal Naval Carriers will be the subject of the talk by Commodore Richard Powell OBE at the RIN SCG RTYC Joint Spring Meeting.

The New Royal Naval Carriers will be the subject of the talk by Commodore Richard Powell OBE at the RIN SCG RTYC Joint Spring Meeting that will take place on 15th March 2018 at 6pm.

Commodore Powell's talk will cover the background to the acquisition of the carriers, their development and their capabilities. He will also look to the future and provide some insights into how the maritime environment is likely to change in the future with the increasing advent of technology.

About the Speaker

Building on a 37 year career in the Royal Navy, Richard Powell joined QinetiQ, as the senior campaign manager for the Carrier Enabled Power Projection campaign. Having established the campaign, he was appointed as Head of Strategic Engagement for the maritime sector where he is responsible for relationship management with defence and industry in the maritime domain.

Dress code for the Talk is Smart Casual (no jeans or trainers allowed). The Britannia bar will be available for RIN members. If you would like to join the RIN table for dinner after the talk (jacket and tie required) you will also need to book direct with the RTYC on 0207 235 2121 or email reservations@royalthames.com stating your affiliation. The Club bar will be open from 1800 hrs. The talk starts promptly at 1845hrs.

The talk is open to RIN members and their guests, as well as members of the RORC, the RNVR Yacht Club and the RCC.
