Marine Electronic Charts and PC Systems will be the subject of the RIN SCG Joint Winter Meeting with the Little Ship Club. This evening talk at the Little Ship Club in London will be given by Lance Godefroy of Navionics and Gavin Ashworth of Yachting Software.
The talks will focus on marine electronic charts and the latest developments, in particular how crowd-sourcing is revolutionizing digital marine charts and the use of NavigationPLANNER and PC Plotter software for tidal, route and weather planning and the processing of and overlay of navigation data, including AIS onto Navionics charts. The talks will also cover new features, such as the synchronisation of Theyr weather forecasts with tidal data to enable wind over tide to be quickly identified and Winning Fishing which runs alongside WinningFishing Apps for iOS and Android devices.
About the Speakers
Lance Godfrey has been with Navionics for 20 years; his office is responsible for sales and distribution for the UK and Ireland. A lifelong enthusiastic boater, he has been in the marine electronics industry for many years and witnessed the huge advances in equipment now available for today’s leisure boats. He charters every year and, as well as owning a small powerboat, he engages with the broad Navionics customer base supporting the many organisations that run boating events every year.
Gavin Ashworth and his wife have sailed for over 30 years. They have kept their boat at several locations on the South coast and the Solent. In recent years they have been based at Cherbourg and are now moving their boat to a new berth in S Brittany. Gavin runs a website for owners of Dehler yachts and has been operating online for 20 years. In recent years he has acquired NavigationPLANNER and PCPLOTTER and he now concentrates on software development and sales.
There is no charge for RIN and LSC members to attend the talk. Dress code for the talk is Smart Casual (no jeans or trainers allowed). Members should ring the bell and sign in at the front desk.
