OPERATION FRANKTON _ The Cockleshell Heroes

At 1907 on 7th December 1942 the submarine HMS Tuna surfaced off the coast of occupied France near the mouth of the river Gironde. It was there that they launched Major Herbert "Blondie" Haslar RM and his team of marines in five folding kayaks to carrry our raids on German ships in the port of Bordeaux.

In their presentations, the speakers will describe the raid and recent RN and RM commemorative expeditions to mark its 75th anniversary..

Timing - The club and its bar will be open from 1800 and those wishing to eat at the club are asked to arrive by 1845 latest. The talk will commence at 2000, if you are planning to come for the talk only please allow a few minutes for checking in etc.
