Boscombe Down Branch
The Boscombe Down Branch is one of the oldest branches of the RIN, having been founded by civil service scientists and engineers and serving RAF aircrew and engineers at the old Aircraft and Armament Experimental Establishment (A&AEE). Boscombe Down is now managed by Qinetiq but the branch continues to flourish with civilian scientists and engineers and RAF, RN and Army aircrew and engineers regularly attending its meetings.
The Branch holds meetings once a month from September to April. Its meetings are generally held in the Boscombe Down Lecture Theatre at 1715 hours on a Thursday. However, a joint meeting with the Boscombe Down Branch of the Royal Aeronautical Society is held on a Tuesday and, in April, a joint meeting is held with the local branches of the Aircrew Association on a Thursday evening.
Meetings are open to all. However, security arrangements require that you contact either the Branch Secretary or Publicity Officer in advance of the meeting to allow them to inform the MoD guard service of your visit.
Members of the RIN are particularly welcome and, if you intend to attend Boscombe Down regularly, we would be grateful if you could contact the Branch Publicity Officer: Paul Allen (please place your request in the Feedback Form - there is a tab at the top of this section - placing Paul's name in the title bar) so that your name can be appended to the branch mailing list.
