Research & Development Group
The main purposes of this group are to monitor key developments in navigation research and development (R&D) in the UK and internationally, and communicate them to the membership through meetings and the web.
The Group also identifies needs for future R&D within navigation, fosters links between applications-led R&D and basic research within navigation, promotes UK R&D and provides networking opportunities for professionals and students.
The Group has no real membership, by design. Instead it is organised by a small committee, and runs regular meetings that draw the cream of UK navigation R&D to speak at them about topics of particular interest in research and development. These meetings are open to everyone, RIN members and non-members alike, and give a real opportunity to explore R&D issues in-depth.
The R&D Group is also responsible for one of the RIN’s most successful recent developments – the annual New Navigators seminar. This allows students from a range of navigational disciplines to present their work and network with the leading players in the UK navigation R&D market, while also keeping the companies up to date with the latest research and research and researchers that might help expand their business.
To contact the R&D Group and be notified when the next meeting is held, contact the Chair, or the Secretary using our feedback form.
