Land Navigation and Location Group

Satnav in a carThe Land Navigation and Location Group covers a range of inter-related areas concerned with navigation on land, including:

  • automatic location of assets
  • fleet management applications
  • mobile communications
  • navigation on foot
  • telematics and navigation telecommunications
  • vehicle navigation

As well as having run successful NAV and EURNAV conference series, the Group holds regular general meetings and participates with other organisations in the running of professional development activities.
These take place throughout the UK and range from seminars on research developments to open demonstration of products and services. Recently the Group ran a highly successful one-day seminar at RIN HQ on the safety and reliability of in-car satnav systems, which drew speakers and delegates from across the industry. You can read more about this seminar in our Navigation News magazine (members may download PDF copies from the resources section).

In addition to being involved with researching, developing, proving and supplying navigation technologies and equipment, many members of the group are active navigators in some form or another.
