The Indian government has given the go-ahead for Gagan - the country's satellite-based navigation overlay for air traffic management. The name 'Gagan' is Sanskrit for 'Sky'.
The Civil GPS Service Interface Committee has published all the papers from its recent international meeting.
They represent the state of play of GPS, GLONASS and Galileo, as well
as a huge range of associated facilities and projects.
The International Air Transport Association confirms that
international passenger traffic growth slowed to 1.3% in August,
following a disappointing growth of 1.9% in July. Passenger load
factors fell to 79.2% from 81% in August 2007 last year as capacity
growth outpaced demand.
