The Indian government has given the go-ahead for Gagan - the country's satellite-based navigation overlay for air traffic management. The name 'Gagan' is Sanskrit for 'Sky'.
The International Air Transport Association confirms that
international passenger traffic growth slowed to 1.3% in August,
following a disappointing growth of 1.9% in July. Passenger load
factors fell to 79.2% from 81% in August 2007 last year as capacity
growth outpaced demand.
The UK CAA has confirmed that the first
approved RNAV Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) non-precision
approach for General Aviation in the UK will be introduced at Shoreham
on 20 November.
Between 22 and 26 September, a GPS jamming exercise will take place in
UK, centred on the MoD Sennybridge Training Area, Powys, Wales. Any
GPS within line-of-site could be jammed out to 40 NM.
