This Group was formed when members became concerned that whilst a great deal had been written on the history of marine navigation, little had been done to record the very considerable developments that had taken place in the air.
Two main objectives for the group were identified:
- the first was to produce and maintain a definitive record of air navigation techniques in the 20th century
- the second was to organise a series of meetings presenting topics of interest to air historians.
The Group holds regular meetings at venues of historical interest at which distinguished aviators are invited to speak. In addition, members receive regular newsletters, which contain the latest news and articles of interest.
