BOOKINGS NOW CLOSED An opportunity to participate in a guided Navy Days Tour on 10 February at the Old Royal Naval College (ORNC)

The ORNC, birthplace of Henry VIII and Elizabeth I, has a fascinating history that stretches back over 500 years and is one of the finest examples of baroque architecture in England.

The Royal Hospital for Seamen was built to house old and injured sailors who had served with the royal navy. At its peak, 2,700 naval veterans were cared for and although life was easier than being at sea, it wasn't all plain sailing.

Find out more about the sailors, pirates and murderers who lived out their days in Greenwich during our guided Navy Days Tour, which will take us from Discover Greenwich through the grounds to the Painted Hall* and Chapel. There will also be exclusive access to the Victorian Skittle Alley during the tour.

Programme:

1200 - 1330 Optional lunch/light refreshments at The Old Brewery Cafe or Bar located next to the Discover Greenwich Visitor Centre (the will be no pre-bookings taken by RIN for this so, if they wish, members can just turn up and pay locally).

1340 - Meet up in the Discover Greenwich Visitor Centre for registration.

1400 - Tour starts.

1530 - Tour ends. Free time to wander at leisure around the venue. Alternatively, Members may wish to also take the opportunity to visit the National Maritime Museum, The Cutty Sark or just pop back to The Old Brewery Cafe for a cuppa.

The Navy Days Tour at the ORNC costs £7.50 each. Bookings are limited to members of the RIN + one guest.

All bookings for this Tour should be made through Kathy Hossain by email to kathyhossain@aol.com, providing in the first instance the following information:
