Council Members

The Institute's affairs are overseen by an elected President, Officers and Council. Council is made up of Trustees and ex officio representatives from the services, Department for Transport and Civil Aviation Authority.

The Council is based at the RIN headquarters, within the Royal Geographical Society building in London. The practical manifestation of Institute activities is seen mainly through the work of the Technical Committee, and especially through the initiatives of its Special Interest Groups. Each Group is chaired by an member who sits on the Technical Committee and who is supported by a small group committee.

Each SIG produces its own newsletter and runs its own programme of work and series of events, which is distributed to all Institute Members and Associates and is used as the medium for cross-fertilisation between the groups.
