Navigation in Mountain Rescue

Scottish Branch were given a fascinating insight into Mountain Search and Rescue

Paul McGreal of Tweed Valley Mountain Rescue Team presented this subject. He focused his talk on the means by which search teams reduce very large potential search areas to prioritised and manageable sections and gave a number of case studies where these techniques had proved very successful. Paul noted the essential requirement to be able use a map and compass in the hills, but also noted that your mobile phone may save your life (if it's charged and warm enough!).
