East Midlands Branch Meeting and AGM - Chairman's Lecture 10th April 2018

"Working the Skies - aviation off the airway routes" - Stephen Hogarth FRAeS MRIN

A short AGM at 1830 will be followed by a reception at 1900 and lecture to start at 1930.

The average person's exposure to aviation is an airline journey for business or pleasure. Away from these airway trunk routes, often in the most remote and inaccessible parts of the globe, aviation flourishes. Aerial work, in moving people and goods, aerial survey, scientific support, missionary flying and much more lies over the horizon. These varied and interesting operations have overcome many challenges. The speaker will show that, despite technological advances with aeroplanes and helicopters, new challenges remain unsolved, but technology is trying to tackle them with innovative solutions.
