Friday 16th June 2017 - Cranwell Primary School Experience Day

As a result of our attendance at the three day youth event at the Lincolnshire Showground last October, we were invited to put on a Navigation activity at the Cranwell Primary School Activity Day. We were allocated three groups of nine students, some as young as seven, which tied in nicely with modelling the Solar System activity using trundle wheels (because everyone loves using trundle wheels!). We only had just over 75m to work in, so it turned out that our Sun could be no larger than a Malteser, and Mercury was an almost invisible spot on a postcard. Nevertheless, great fun was had by all. Had it been raining, we’d planned to work indoors with our ‘Spot the Local Feature and Calculate its Grid Reference activity’. We left this at the school for them to try out before the end of term.
