The Spirit of Goole gets airborne
Associated Club 'The Spirit of Goole' flew their aircraft for the first time on 27 March.
After all the hard work building the aircraft, The Spirit of Goole (TSOG) youngsters have finally had the chance to fly her. The aircraft - registered as G-TSOG - had been test flown late last year and has finally been awarded a Permit to Fly, enabling the 2-seater to carry a second person for flying lessons.
The Sherwood Ranger microlight aircraft - supplied as a kit by The Light Aircraft Company of Little Snoring, Norfolk - has a maximum level speed of 70 kn, cruises at over 60 kn and can take-off and land in just 100 m.
In 2017, the youngsters are aiming to set a world record, 'Fastest Aircraft Build by Teenagers'; in just 72 hours they hope to construct a Sherwood Scout from start to flight.
The Spirit of Goole runs both flying and sailing academies for teenagers and builds boats as well as aircraft - see their link below . .
The Institute strongly supports these activities and we hope that the teenagers enjoy G-TSOG for many years to come . .
