SCG Visit to the Old Royal Naval College, Greenwich
BOOKING FOR THIS EVENT HAS NOW CLOSED. On 10th February members of the Royal Institute of Navigation SCG and their guests had a guided tour of the Old
37 RIN members, including their guests, participated in yesterday afternoon's tour, one of the SCG's most successful visits to date, with half joining the "RIN tables" for lunch beforehand in the cafe and bar, situated adjacent to the Discovery Centre.
Due to the size of our group, the ORNC laid on two guides and each group took a different route around the site, so that we were not all crammed together. The tour took about 90 minutes, with around 50% of it being conducted outside, so we were fortunate that the weather, although cold, was on our side.
Everyone felt that the guided tour was great value for money and several members commented that they would probably return again to the site to participate in another tour (the ORNC offer several different themes tours - ours was the Navy Days/Pensioners Tour). Great fun was had at the end of the tour, when we ended up in the Skittle Alley, where several members and their guests tried their hand - a room in the basement of the ORNC that is not open to the public and is only accessible to those who have booked a guided tour.
Why not join us on our next visit - The Historic Dockyard, Chatham on 7 April 2015.
