Paris CDG Airport mapped

Paris Charles de Gaulle is the latest venue to hit the headlines in the burgeoning indoor navigation market.

Pole Star has provided over 600,000 sq m of indoor location coverage using its 'NAO Campus' technology.

This allows passengers to be located and guided inside and outside terminals over the entire CDG airport, including the TGV train station and car parks.

The 'My Way' app for Android devices provides the user interface - the Mac version of the app should be available soon.

Pole Star's NAO Campus uses signal strengths received from all existing WiFi access points - which need only to be powered-up, not necessarily using a network. It combines these with GPS - which may be assisted (A-GPS) - in a bespoke filter to provide location.

The app is designed mainly for consumer mobile devices - smartphones, PDAs, PNDs, laptops, netbooks, touchscreen tablets - but is also compatible with professional surveying devices.
