Visit to the Trinity House Buoy Yard, Planning Centre & the GLAs's Lights Lab

A visit to the Trinity House Buoy Yard, Planning Centre & the GLAs's Lights Lab has been arranged by the RIN Small Craft Group.

The visit to the Trinity House Buoy Yard, Planning Centre & the GLAs's Lights Lab has been arranged to take place on Wednesday 5th April. BOOKING FOR THIS EVENT IS NOW CLOSED.

The programme for the day is:

1130 - Meet up in the reception area of the Trinity House Depot.
1145 - 1330 - Tour of the Planning Centre and Buoy Yard
1345 - 1445 - Lunch at a local pub (payable locally)
1500 - 1530 - Visit the GLAs's Lights Laboratory adjacent to the Buoy Yard.

There is no charge for this visit but members must book their place through Kathy Hossain by email ( Kathy's email address can be found in the membership directory when members are logged into the RIN website). Member's may bring one guest. Places are limited to a maximum of 20, so early booking is recommended. BOOKING NOW CLOSED.

Other things to do before or after the visit:

The LV18 on The Quay is open daily between March and October from 11am-5pm. Admission £2.

The Harwich Mayflower Project is building an authentic replica of the ship that carried the Pilgrims to America to a better life in the New World.

The new Mayflower ship will embark on a new and crucial journey that will carry today’s Adventurers as they face up to the environmental dangers and challenges presented by climate change. There is a new on-site Visitor Centre, and guided tours provided by knowledgeable and friendly tour guides. Open daily 9am-5pm. The Project is located at The Railyard in George Street, a short walk from the Trinity House Buoy Yard.

Please note the start time for this visit has been put back by 15 minutes to enable ample time for those arriving by train to make their way to the Depot. For those coming from the North, the passenger foot ferry from Shotley to Harwich starts running again from 1st April.
